Former Minister and BJP senior leader Yerneni Sitadevi said former Union Minister Jairam Ramesh did the most harm to Andhra Pradesh in Polavaram issue by giving away Bhadrachalam town and four mandals to Telangana. For the people of seven mandals who are dependent on the temple town for their daily needs like education and health, it was like giving Telangana without Hyderabad, she said.

Ms. Sitadevi said Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, who gave in writing to Srikrishna Commission that he wanted Telangana which existed before 1956, raked up the issue again to stake claim over lower Sileru project also. Statements by Mr. Ramesh and K. Chiranjeevi that they were responsible for the ordinance on Polavaram were laughable, and had Mr. Chiranjeevi really asked Congress president Sonia Gandhi, she would have transferred entire Bhadrachalam division to A.P., Ms. Sitadevi said. She demanded that Bhadrachalam division should be given back to A.P.
