January 01, 2015 12:19 am | Updated 12:19 am IST - GUNTUR:

Inspector General of Police, South Coastal Range, P.V. Sunil Kumar on Wednesday announced a reward of Rs. 5 lakh for any one providing credible information on the torching of farm implements in Thullur mandal in the capital region.

Speaking to media persons here, the IG said 15 special police teams were formed to probe into the incidents which took place on Sunday night. Mr. Sunil Kumar, who went round the affected villages on Tuesday night along with SPs, Rajesh Kumar and P.H.D Ramakrishna, examined shreds of evidence.

The IG concluded that it should have been a pre planned and deliberate attack with an intention to create panic in villages ahead of land pooling and asked people not to be carried away by rumours. Unidentified miscreants set ablaze parts of banana plantations and farm implements in six villages in Thullur and Tadepalli mandals sending the entire government machinery into a tizzy.
