‘Green City’: VMC to plant one lakh saplings

Vijayawada Municipal Corporation under its efforts to make the city into a “Green City” and reduce pollution is working on planting one lakh saplings. Further the Corporation is also requesting resident welfare associations, educational institutions, corporate companies to do their bit and support the cause. Plans have been laid to plant one lakh saplings before the arrival of next monsoon season. Corporate companies, voluntary organisations, educational institutions and others can cooperate in this noble cause by contributing tree guards to protect the saplings.

Further, resident welfare associations should cooperate in ensuing the saplings’ growth, said VMC Commissioner G. Veerapandian in a press release.
