‘Govt. will nurture talented lensmen’

Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Mandali Buddha Prasad said the State government would extend all possible help for the uplift of photographers.

Participating as the chief guest in the A.P. Photography Akademi (APA)’s golden jubilee celebrations here on Friday, Mr. Prasad recalled the passion with which the academy founder, Bhagavan Das, used to take photographs of the trails of destruction left by cyclones, the different phases in politics and other happenings in society, which constituted a valuable source of pictorial information.

The government would nurture such talented photographers, he said and wished that their clan should get Padmasri award in the future.

APA treasurer R.V. Sarma was presented with the Honorary Fellow of A.P. Photography Akademi Award – 2017. T. Kasinath Memorial Award was presented to India International Photographic Council founder O.P. Sharma, Datta Kopakar Award to A.P. Photography Akademi vice-president M. Ravindranath and Bhagavan Das Memorial Award to Telangana Photography Akademi secretary K. Viswender Reddy.
