Govt. unveils amnesty scheme for encroachers

Income not a criterion for regularisation

The government issued a G.O. on Wednesday for the introduction of a fresh scheme of regularisation of encroachments in unobjectionable government land up to 300 square yards for both BPL and APL families with October 15, 2019, as the cut-off date.

As per the G.O., BPL families can get their plots measuring up to 100 square yards regularised at ₹1 and those measuring 100 to 300 square yards at prevailing market values decided by the district Collectors. APL families can have their plots of 0 to 300 square yards area regularised at prevailing market values fixed by the district Collectors.

Lock-in period

The scheme will have a lock-in period of five years after which the beneficiaries can sell their holdings.

The applicants have to produce the following documents as proofs of occupation: registered document, property tax receipts, electricity bill receipts, water bill receipts and any other proof to establish occupation/ possession over the land.

Applications have to be filed within 120 days of the coming into operation of the scheme at any MeeSeva Centre/Village Secretariat.
