Municipal Commissioner S. Nagalakshmi said here on Tuesday that the Guntur Municipal Corporation would take all the necessary steps in compliance with the High Court order over demolition of additional floors of unauthorised constructions.

Ms. Nagalakshmi said orders for the demolition of additional floors have been issued by Principal Secretary, Municipal Administration Department.

The High court recently delivered a judgment imposing a fine of ₹2,000 and an imprisonment of one month to the owner of a building on Old Club Road and the Municipal Commissioner after taking a serious view of contempt of its earlier order.

The complainant had approached the court seeking demolition of additional floors constructed in violation of rules. The High Court, after obtaining a report by the district judge, delivered the judgment in this case.

To appeal against order

She said the State government would file an appeal against the court’s order within the stipulated time.
