When actor and founder of Life Again Foundation Gautami Tadimalla entered Dr. L. Bullayya College on Friday evening, she could not help flipping through the nostalgic pages of ‘back to college’ days.

Clad in indigo kurta and contrast-coloured palazzos, the actor boosted the morale of the students with élan, encouraging them to focus on staying healthy, happy and wealthy.

“The younger generation is much smarter and my only request to all is to pay serious attention to your health,” the alumna of the college said.

Sharing her nostalgic association with the institution Ms. Gautami said she passed Intermediate in 1986 before pursuing Engineering in GITAM University and considered Dr. L. Bullayya College her second home.

From the days where she attracted attention for wearing jeans to the days she won the hearts of denizens, Ms. Gautami termed her college days as the best.

“The tradition that I have seen in the city back then did not fade away over the years and that’s what makes Visakhapatnam stand out,” the actor said, enthusiastically obliging students and the staff with selfies.

Winners walk

Urging students to give equal priority to health as well as their career, Ms. Gautami stated that being aware of one’s health aids in detecting cancer at an early stage. “The forthcoming foundation’s Winners Walk on the beach road is just the beginning of a long journey. We are going to tie up with student community and spread awareness on cancer prevention through a host of programmes,” said Ms. Gautami, extending invitation to students to take part in the walk to be held on the Beach Road opposite Kalimata temple at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday.

The actor said that movies happened by chance for her and she was fortunate to get into the field where she got to learn something new everyday.

“I always tried to give my best to whatever I do and I continue to do the same in future as well. Cinema will continue to be a part of my professional life and I would take up any role that interests me,” the actor added.

Leaving the option of entering politics open, Ms. Gautami said if one had to contribute to society by joining the political arena, she would not mind joining politics.
