Gates Foundation to help A.P. in ODF goal


Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has stated that the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has come forward to extend its cooperation to the State in achieving the Open Defecation Free (ODF) goal.

Mr. Naidu was addressing a teleconference on Neeru Pragati and agriculture with district Collectors and public representatives on Monday.

Praise for govt.

Bill and Melinda Gates co-chair Bill Gates showered praise on the government for its e-initiatives during his recent visit to Visakhapatnam to attend the AgTech Summit. Mr. Gates was impressed with the Kaizala app launched by the government.

The foundation would also help the government with regard to the ODF. The government was able to assess the climatic conditions based on inputs from the ISRO. Real time governance and 1,100 parishkara vedika were a few initiatives that brought laurels to the government, he said.

The government’s objective was to improve the living standards of the farmers. Andhra Pradesh should top in the country in the agriculture sector.

The target should be to become a leader in Asia and in the world, he said.
