Gang robbing gold merchants busted

The Central Crime Station (CCS) police on Thursday arrested two persons, who were part of a 20-member gang of robbers from Maharashtra, and recovered gold ornaments worth Rs. 50 lakh and a four-wheeler from their possession.

The gang was involved in robbing two businessmen of nine kg of gold, near Kanakadurga Varadhi in the city. They arrested were identified as -- Dhanunjay Dasrath Pawar and Ambu Dasrath Pawar.

Eighteen other members of the gang were still at large, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) L. K. V. Ranga Rao, said.

The gang had robbed nine kilograms of gold from two persons while they were travelling in a bus from Visakhapatnam to Nellore, five months ago, the DCP said.
