The Krishna district authorities on Monday decided to proceed with the acquisition of private land for distribution among the poor only in the case of absence of the assigned land at the village and mandal levels.
At a review meeting on the status of the beneficiaries of the housing facility for below poverty line (BPL) families, Mr. Imtiaz made it mandatory that no assigned land under encroachment should be spared and such land should be distributed among the beneficiaries.
Village-level list
“The Tahsildar (s) should ensure that assigned land under the encroachment should be acquired. However, the private land for the housing facility will be acquired in the absence of the assigned land at the local level”, said Mr. Imtiaz. However, the officials were also strictly directed not to displace any BPL family that has been enjoying the assigned land for over the years.
The revenue officials have been directed to prepare a village-level list of beneficiaries of the housing facility to speed up the exercise as directed by Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
District Revenue Officer A. Prasad were among those present.
