Four-laning project: villagers’ plea to Naidu

October 09, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:58 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

Residents of Gandigunta village near here met Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday urging him to take necessary steps to ensure that their houses were not demolished as part of the four-laning of Vijayawada-Machilipatnam road.

The residents said as many as 200 houses would have to be demolished if the present designs were to be implemented. The government was proposing to widen the road between 23-26 km stretch. The villagers had also appealed to the NHAI officials to have a relook at the design but in vain.

The villagers led by Subramanyeswara Rao, M. Ramesh Babu, Veeramachinei Venkateswara Rao and K.V. Reddy submitted the memorandum to the Chief Minister.
