Four militia members of the CPI (Maoist) surrendered before the police in Bhadrachalam on Saturday.

Stating this in Bhadrachalam, Kothagudem OSD A. Ravi Krishna said that the four surrendered members of the Gutti Koya tribal community deserted the violent path and voluntarily surrendered before the police. “They have aided the Maoists in carrying out a double murder in Kunavaram mandal in 2009,” he said. He exhorted them to tread the path of peace and lead a normal life.

Food served

Later, Mr. Ravi Krishna served food to the villagers as part of the ‘Amma Pilupu', a programme aimed at making the rebels shun the armed struggle and join the mainstream, in the temple town. He administered a “peace pledge” to the participants of the programme. Bhadrachalam DSP Gajarao Bhupal, ASP Koya Praveen, and Bhadrachalam CI G. Venkat Rao were present on the occasion.
