Officials of Vigilance and Enforcement (V&E), Revenue and Civil Supplies departments conducted raids on rice mills at Nandigama, Machilipatnam and other places in Krishna district and seized rice and paddy worth about Rs. 6.5 crore, stored illegally.
According to Krishna district V&E Deputy Superintendent of Police N. Purnachander Rao, a team led by Circle Inspector P. Rajesh raided a private rice mill at Nandigama and found variation in the rice, broken rice and paddy stocks. Stocks worth over Rs. 4.51 crore were seized in the raid.
In another raid at Machilipatnam, the vigilance officials seized rice and paddy, worth about Rs. 2 crore, and registered a case against the mill owner. Cases have been registered.
