Five municipalities, 3 nagar panchayats to go for elections

Five municipalities and three nagar panchayats have slipped into municipal election mode with the State Election Commission announcing election schedule on Monday. The five municipalities: Machilipatnam, Gudivada, Nuzvid, Jaggaiahpeta, and Pedana, and three nagar panchayats: Tiruvuru, Nandigama and Vuyyuru will go for elections on March 30.

The Chairperson posts of Machilipatnam, Pedana, Gudivada and Jaggaaiahpeta fall under unreserved category, while Nuzvid has been declared as general (woman). Likewise, Tiruvuru has been reserved for SC (Women), while the Nandigama and Vuyyuru are made BC (General).

There are 42 wards in Machilipatnam. Of this, one is SC (General), two ST (General), one SC (Women), seven BC (General), and seven BC (Women), while 11 wards are unreserved, 13 wards are reserved for women.

In Gudivada there are 28 wards. Of this, one is ST (General), three are SC (General); two wards are SC (Women) wards. Likewise, six wards are BC (Women), while 10 are reserved for women.

In Nuzvid there are 30 wards, and of this, six are unreserved wards. SC (General) got three wards, two wards are reserved for SC (women); five each for BC (General) and BC (Women). Eight wards are reserved for women, while one ward is reserved for ST (General).

Jaggaiahpeta Municipality has 27 wards. Of this, one is reserved for ST (General) and two each for SC (General). BC (General) has five wards, while BC (Women) has four wards; seven wards are reserved for women and remaining are unreserved.

The Pedana Municipality has 23 wards. A ward each has been reserved for ST (General), SC (General) and SC (Woman); four wards each for BC (General) and BC (Women); seven wards are reserved for women, and remaining wards are unreserved.

Tiruvuru Municipality has 20 wards. Of this, a ward is reserved for ST (General), two each for SC(General) and SC(Women). BC (General) and BC(Woman) have four and three wards respectively. Five wards are reserved for women while three wards are reserved as unreserved category.

Vuyyuru has 20 wards. Of this, a ward is reserved for ST (General), and two each for SC (General) and SC (Woman). BC (General) (and BC (Women) have four and three wards respectively. There are five wards for women and three unreserved wards.

In Nandigama Municipality a ward is reserved for ST (General), two wards each for SC (General) and SC (Woman). BC (General) and BC (Woman) have four and three wards respectively. Five wards are reserved for women while three are unreserved wards.
