Farmers hold up MP, MLA

January 07, 2015 12:50 am | Updated 12:50 am IST - GUNTUR:

Angry farmers prevented Narsaraopet Member of Parliament Rayapati Sambasiva Rao and Vinukonda MLA G.V. Anjaneyulu from leaving Nuzendla village in Vinukonda mandal here on Tuesday evening after failing to get an assurance on waiver of farm loans.

Over 500 farmers squatted on the main road holding up the MP and MLA demanding that the State government include the names of more farmers in the list of eligible beneficiaries. With great difficulty, the police managed to clear the farmers.
