“I will not step into my village if the authorities prove the charges against me,” said TDP leader D. Vishnuvardhan Reddy, who was arrested a week ago after a case was registered by the police alleging that he drove away a Scheduled Caste family in Edururu village of Kurnool mandal.
Mr. Reddy said that foisting false cases on political rivals whenever a new government is formed was disgraceful.
Mr. Reddy was released on bail on Friday. Immediately after the release from Kurnool sub-jail, he held a press conference at his residence and claimed that false cases had been foisted against him.
The leader from Kodumur claimed that he had always worked for the uplift of SC, ST, BC and minorities. “There are SC settlements across Kodumur constituency. Talk to anyone from these villages, and they will tell you the work I have done for them,” he claimed.
He alleged that a few people were conspiring against him, and added that he had faced false charges earlier also. “I have overcome the charges earlier, and will overcome them again,” he claimed. He urged the authorities to check the backgrounds of people who had filed the case against him.
