The Union Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) has set the ball rolling for what it claims as bringing about transparency in formulating the new education policy, 2015.

As part of the consultation process initiated by the Centre, consultation meetings are being conducted across the nation to elicit views and take suggestions from stakeholders. The Regional Institute of Education (RIE), Mysore, will conduct two meetings in Andhra Pradesh – one at Tirupati on Monday (June 22) covering the four Rayalaseema districts besides Prakasam and Nellore and the other at Vijayawada on Wednesday (June 24), covering the remaining districts of the State. The AP State Council for Educational Research and Training (SCERT), which is coordinating the meetings, has invited a cross section of people from education and other allied department to hold discussions.

“The idea is to come up with an inclusive and participatory policy. We need to equip students with necessary skills and knowledge,” said K. Narayana Reddy, lecturer from Department of Planning, Management, Finance & Policy (SCERT).

The proposed discussions will focus on the 13 themes identified by the MHRD.
