ESI super-speciality to come up in Vizag

Land has already been allotted

Labour Minister Pithani Satyanarayana has stated that a super-speciality ESI hospital will be set up at Visakhapatnam at a cost of ₹700 crore.

Addressing a press conference at Secretariat on Thursday, the Minister said that there were four ESI hospitals at Visakhapatnam, Rajamahendravaram, Vijayawada and Tirupati in the State.

The ESI Corporation gave approval in principle for construction of the super-speciality hospital at Visakhapatnam. The State government has already allotted land to an extent of 8.58 acre against the required land of 10.56 acre. The remaining land would also be allotted in due course. The ESC Corporation also gave approval in principle for setting up new 100-bed ESI hospitals at Vizianagaram, Kakinada and Penukonda. The ESI hospital at Rajamahendravaram is being upgraded from 50-bed to 100-bed hospital, he said.

Referring to Chandranna Rytu Bima, Mr. Satyanarayana said that 7.7 lakh farmers were covered under the scheme in addition to 39.25 lakh farmers who have already covered under Chandranna bima taking the total to 47 lakhs.

The total claims received under Chandranna bima were 55,674. Of this, 45,463 claims were settled and ₹650 crore was paid to the beneficiaries, he said.
