Arvind Subramanian, the Chief Economic Advisor (CEA) to Government of India, evinced interest in the e-POS system being implemented in Krishna district to check irregularities in the Public distribution System (PDS), according to Collector Babu. A.

In a press release, he said that Mr. Subramanian held discussions with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on the issue in Hyderabad on Tuesday. Mr. Naidu took to Mr. Subramanian’s notice how the e-POS machines helped in curbing misuse of Rs. 8 crore in just a month in Krishna district.

Mr. Babu said that the appreciation received from Mr. Subramanian was informed to Irrigation Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, who observed that the e-POS would result in savings of at least Rs. 100 crore in the district alone.
