Engineering student attempts suicide in IIIT Nuzvid

A first-year engineering student on Friday allegedly attempted to commit suicide by consuming excess dose of medicines in her hostel room on the Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (IIIT) in Nuzvid campus in Krishna district.

According to the Public Relations Department of the university, the girl was reportedly found in an unconscious state by her friends in her hostel room after the lunch session. The girl was supposed to attend the mid-term examination on Friday.

“The girl has been admitted to the dispensary on the campus from where she was later sent to an area hospital in Nuzvid. Her health condition is stable but doctors advised observation of her health condition for 24 hours”, added the PRO office. The exact reason for the extreme step is not known and the parents of the victim have been communicated about the incident. People with suicidal tendency can dial 100 for help.
