Electricity staff stage protests

Electricity employees staged relay hunger strikes across the State, including at Vidyut Soudha here, on Thursday demanding that the Dharmadhikari Committee’s recommendation for creation of 613 supernumerary posts in A.P. power utilities should be set aside.

The employees insisted that the allotment of personnel between A.P. and Telangana utilities should be in proportion to the posts as per G.O. Nos 24, 25 and 26 and no excess allotment done in either of the States.

They further pointed out that the allotment of manpower should be done on the basis of seniority in line with Supreme Court judgment in Telangana Judges Association V/s Union of India as the recruitment of power sector employees was similar to that of the judicial officers.
