Durga temple officials told to set up more CCTVs

Security arrangements atop Indrakeeladri reviewed

The Police, along with other departments, reviewed the security arrangement at Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvaarla Devastanam on Tuesday.

Following the directions of the Director-General of Police (DGP) R.P. Thakur to check the security at all religious places and at all vital installations in the State in wake of the terror strikes in Sri Lanka, officials conducted the security audit at the temple.

Officials of the Intelligence, City Security Wing, temple management, Fire, Law and Order, Police, APTransco, R&B, Revenue and other departments took part in the exercise.

The police asked the Endowments Department authorities to provide Door Frame Metal Detectors (DFMDs) at the entrances at the Ghat Road, Kanaka Durga Nagar, Shivalayam steps, lift and at the old steps at the hill shrine.

The temple management was also asked to provide baggage scanner, parking, ambulance and para-medical staff to attend the devotees in emergency during the festivals.

24X7 vigil

According to the temple authorities, as many as 205 security personnel, including 170 private security men, 15 SPF, 15 home guards and the Law and Order Police will monitor the security at the temple round-the-clock.

However, the intelligence officials asked the devastanam officials to arrange Hand Held Metal Detectors (HHMDs) and arrange sufficient number of CCTV cameras covering all the locations atop Indrakeeladri and at the entrances to the temple.
