Jai Samaikyandhra Party Vijayawada Lok Sabha candidate Chinnam Ishwarya Lakshmi said the city lacked proper drainage system, and that several parts were still facing water shortage. Ms. Lakshmi said she would tackle the issues on priority basis if voted to power. She also promised to develop Vijayawada into a green city.

Ms. Lakshmi said Vijayawada lacked entertainment facilities. “I promise to develop the city into a tourist hub,” she said. She also expressed concern over atrocities against women and promised to set up special women cells in mandals and villages.

The Delhi-based consultant-cum-journalist said the Congress-led UPA government had divided the State in an undemocratic manner.

“Former Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy had fought tooth and nail to stall the undemocratic bifurcation,” she said and added that people must support the Jai Samaikyandhra Party.
