Krishna District Education Officer (DEO) M.V. Rajya Lakshmi on Wednesday directed private school managements to display prominently details such as recognition, GSTIN number and fee structure on their respective premises.

The managements should conduct classes and examinations as per the schedule given by the government and take steps for safety of students, Ms. Rajya Lakshmi said.

At a meeting held with the managements, she said some schools were running without recognition and renewal of the previous recognition and asked them to take necessary steps immediately.

Besides permission, educational institutions should maintain proper buildings, sanitation, first aid, drinking water, play ground and follow fire safety norms. Parents should also insist on better facilities for their wards, the DEO said.

“We have conducted raids in the last few days and closed some unrecognised schools. The raids will continue across the district and action would be taken against the correspondents or principals, if they run the institution without recognition,” Ms. Rajya Lakshmi warned.

Instructions have been given to all the government, aided and recognised schools to admit students of the closed schools in the district. Managements of the unrecognised schools should return the fee collected from students, if not criminal cases would be filed against them, the DEO said.

Except for tenth class students, no private school should conduct extra classes. Even for SSC students, classes shall not be conducted after 7 p.m.

The managements should keep a vigil on and outside the school premises to prevent teasing and harassment of students, the DEO said.

Principals and correspondents of different private schools participated.
