CPI wants soil dumped in burial ground cleared

The Communist Party of India (CPI) on Wednesday demanded that the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) remove the soil dumped at the burial ground at Vidyadharapuram.

CPI city assistant secretary G. Koteswara Rao said that the Municipal Commissioner had promised that the civic body would clear the soil that was dumped at the burial ground, but no measures had been taken in this regard so far. He further alleged that some unscrupulous elements had levelled the burial ground with an eye to grab the stretch. The Corporation was hurting the sentiments of people by remaining silent to the encroachments, he said.
