District Collector B. Lakshmikantham on Tuesday said the three road infrastructure projects — the Kanakadurga and the Benz Circle flyovers and the Vijayawada-Machilipatnam NH — would be completed by June 30.

Mr. Lakshmikantham, Municipal Commissioner J. Nivas, Joint Commissioner of Police B. V. Ramana Kumar, DCP Kanthi Rana Tata, local representatives and others visited the Kankadurga flyover site.

The Collector told reporters that the Chief Minister was keen on allowing people to use the road between the Kummaripalem centre and the Durga temple. A high-level committee is working out the possibilities keeping in mind the security and safety aspects.

“We have inspected the works and inquired about the arrangements to let the traffic on the road. We will convene a meeting soon and discuss it with the Chief Minister. After January 15, the eastern main canal will be closed to facilitate the flyover work. So far 70% of the work has been done,” he said.

“The work related to placement of spans would be finished by the end of February and the road will be opened for full traffic. It was planned to allow traffic by January 15 but due to various issues and Dasara and Bhavani Deeksha relinquishment festivals the work got delayed,” he said.

The construction of the Benz Circle flyover and the Vijayawada-Machilipatnam NH will be completed by June 30.
