Implement Right to Education Act strictly, officials told

Collector B. Lakshmikantam on Tuesday declared Krishna child labour-free district, at his camp office. He appealed to traders and households not to engage children for work.

Special drives

At a programme, Mr. Lakshmikantam released the posters on ‘child labour free district’, and appealed to officials of various departments to implement the Right to Education Act, strictly.

Officers of Education, Women Development and Child Welfare (WD&CW), Labour, National Child Labour Project (NCLP), Revenue, Rajiv Vidya Mission (RVM) and other departments should conduct special drives and admit children below 14 years, in the nearby schools, he said. Joint Collector-II Pidugu Babu Rao, District Revenue Officer Ambedkar, Deputy Commissioner of Labour P.V.S Subramanyam, NCLP Project Director D. Anjaneya Reddy, WD&CW PD K. Krishna Kumari, BC Welfare Officer Yugandhar and children from different homes run by NGOs and NCLP Schools participated.
