Clear picture on capital will emerge by Oct. 2: CRDA

September 08, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:49 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

The Capital Region Development Authority (AP-CRDA) Director (Planning) V. Ramudu on Sunday said that air would be cleared on the exact location of important government office complexes and buildings in the Capital region by October 2.

The master plan can be slightly different from what the government has projected as some changes are being made in the layout plans, he said while addressing a seminar on ‘Capital City of Andhra Pradesh’ organised on the second day of Amaravati Trade Fair here on Sunday. Mr. Ramudu said that the first phase of construction of the Capital city was likely to be completed by 2018.

The proposed trade centres would occupy a prime place in it in tune with the government’s vision to develop the region as a business hub of global standards.

The Capital region would have an arterial road over a stretch of 135 kms, connecting Vijayawada and Guntur with the other towns in the State, he added.

Speaking at the programme, Malaxmi Group Chairman Y. Harish Chandra Prasad appealed to the political leaders to not harp on special category status which would bring a financial assistance of just about Rs. 2,000 crore, whereas the State needs a helping hand till it catches up with other progressive States.

Unless industries come to the State, rapid development would remain a mirage, he asserted.
