They have been serving the TTD for several years, he says

Congress workers staged a demonstration in front of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) headquarters here on Tuesday, demanding payment of minimum wages to the health workers working in the service of the Lord.

Party leaders led by former MP Chinta Mohan said the workers had been toiling in the service of TTD for several years, but were not receiving compensation in proportion to their work and demanded payment of ₹12,000 as salary per month.

‘Give house sites’

Taking exception to the manner in which the State government had directed the TTD to allocate 25 acres of its land to the Tata Group for construction of a cancer institute in Alipiri, he demanded that the same be taken back and re-distributed among the TTD employees towards house sites.

AICC member K. Prameelamma and other senior leaders alleged that the temple management was letting down the workers and instead focussing only on the elite.
