Vijayawada MP Kesineni Srinivas (Nani) on Monday said that the Union government accorded permission to build a subway near the Benz Circle flyover at Patamata Lanka.

On his visit to the site, Mr. Nani said that the approach road from the flyover to Patamata Lanka, near S.V.S Kalyana Mandapam would restrict the movement of the pedestrians, inconveniencing them. He said that the subway would begin facilitate smooth movement of the pedestrians and that its construction would begin as soon as the funds for this cause was released by the Centre.

Vijayawada (East) MLA Gadde Ramamohan Rao, who accompanied the MP, said that the National Highways Authority of India will undertake the funding and construction of the project. He said that this two-lane underpass would come as a relief to the people of Patamata Lanka.

MLC Ashok Babu and officials from the National Highways Authority of India were present.
