Cancer survivors take up ‘tobacco kills’ campaign

Volunteers of the HCG Cancer Care Hospitals along with cancer survivors staged a silent protest as part of the “Tobacco Kills” campaign at several pan shops that were within 100 yards of educational institutions in violation of the rule, on the eve of World No Tobacco Day on Saturday.

They staged protests in n Madhuranagar, Moughalarajpuram, Nirmala Convent and NTR circle areas, near Siddharatha and Narayana Colleges, Gunadala, Padavalarevu, Machavaram down and Saradha College Centres.

Later, doctors and cancer survivors, wearing black gags and holding placards, highlighted the harm being done to the society at large by the illicit trade of tobacco products at HCG Curie City Cancer Centre here on Saturday.
