The city police on Friday arrested notorious burglar and dossier criminal Dunna Krishna, who was involved in over 235 cases, and recovered 2.5 kg gold and 15 kg silver ornaments valued at Rs. 80 lakh from his possession.

A native of Srikakulam district, Krishna, had been committing burglaries for the last 20 years.

He was wanted in about 68 cases in Krishna district alone. He was also wanted in several cases of burglaries committed in Srikakulam and Rajahmundry, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) L.K.V. Ranga Rao, on Friday.

Krishna had escaped from judicial custody in Rajahmundry and was absconding since then. He had been convicted on theft charges and had served imprisonment in Visakhapatnam jail.

The police also arrested Mohammad Shabbir Ali Nayya, who was the receiver of the stolen booty from Krishna. Shabbir procured gold and silver jewellery from Krishna several times, said Additional DCP (Crimes) G. Ramakoteswara Rao.

The Kancharlapalem police had also opened a dossier criminal sheet against Krishna.
