Bodies of missing girls found in Krishna

Bodies of two girls, studying in their Intermediate in Gayatri College in the city, and missing since Saturday evening, were recovered by the Machavaram and Tadepalli police (Guntur district) in the Krishna river on Monday.

Machavaram Sub-Inspector T. Srinivasa Reddy said they received a complaint from father of one of the girls A. Swathi, 16, that she along with Divya, 16, was missing after they left the college on Saturday afternoon. The two hailing from Tadepalli in Guntur district were allegedly caught copying in the internal examinations and parents called to college.

The two the left college without informing anyone and were sighted by one of their friends on the Prakasam Barrage on Saturday evening. The body of Divya was found in the canal between Chodavaram and Madduru in Tadepalli limits, while that of Swati was found at Kankipadu on Vijayawada outskirts, the police said.
