Bharatiya Janata Party, which finalised candidates for all the ten Assembly segments and the Srikakulam Parliamentary constituency, has decided to intensify its campaign in the district. The party, which is going to polls in the State on its own, banks on the image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Party Srikakulam MP candidate Perla Sambamurthy, BJP district president Kotagiri Narayana Rao, BJP national council member Reddi Narayana Rao and others held a meeting at its party office here on Saturday.

Later speaking to media, Mr. Sambamurthy said that people were not carried away by the TDP’s campaign against the NDA government as they realised that it was the Modi government that sanctioned more than ₹5 lakh crore in the last five years for the development of AP.

Central schemes

“Srikakulam district has also benefited from the Central government schemes. The number of people migrating to other places has come down significantly with the overall development. We will highlight these issues during campaign in the rural areas,” said Mr. Sambamurthy.

BJP national council member Reddi Narayana Rao, AP Mazdoor Sangh president M.V.G. Naidu and party State executive member S.V. Ramana Murthy and others said the party would become a force to reckon with in the State.

They said Mr. Sambamurthy and other MLA candidates would file papers on Monday in their respective constituencies.
