‘BJP committed to developing State’

June 27, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:47 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

BJP national executive member and MLC Somu Veerraju said the party was conscious of its responsibility to develop Andhra Pradesh in all spheres and was committed to fulfilling it.

The Congress escaped from its duty which was to protect the interests of the State after bifurcating it in an arbitrary manner.

“It was the BJP which took upon itself the task of obtaining special category status for A.P. when the TDP and the YSR Congress maintained a stoic silence,” he said at a press conference here on Friday.

Mr. Veerraju said the demand for special category status from 13 States was a reason for the delay in granting the status to A.P. Both the special category status and Railway Zone would become a reality sooner than later, he claimed.

“The Central government is doing its best to help A.P. in overcoming the crisis caused by bifurcation and it would be unwise to expect things to happen overnight,” he said.
