The venue of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s Nava Nirmana Deeksha, scheduled for June 2, is likely to be shifted from Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) stadium to Benz Circle.
Vijayawada TDP leaders want the venue shifted, but officials are yet to take a decision, as a host of issues, including security and disruption of traffic, will have to be sorted out.
District Collector Babu A., City Police Commissioner A.B. Venkateswara Rao and Sub-Collector S. Nagalakshmi visited Benz Circle and nearby areas on Friday to assess the arrangements that would have to be made if the venue is shifted.
Mr. Babu said a decision would be taken on Saturday. The Nava Nirmana Deeksha is scheduled to be held from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on June 2. Mr. Venkateswara Rao said security would be of utmost importance as the Chief Minister would be in the midst of a massive gathering. Party leaders are learnt to have preferred Benz Circle in view of its prime location.
