BAMS students to boycott classes from today

July 23, 2012 10:07 am | Updated 10:07 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

The students of the BAMS Ayurveda Course propose to boycott classes from Monday protesting against the denial of permission for admission into BAMS course by the Union government for the 2012-13 academic year.

The students of Dr. NRS Government Ayurvedic College submitted a memorandum to district in-charge Minister Galla Arunakumari and Secondary Education Minister Kolusu Parthasarathi. They also submitted a copy of the memorandum to Collector S.A.M. Rizvi at the R & B Guest House here on Sunday.

The students in a statement said the Department of Ayush has denied permission for admission into BAMS course for the second successive year. “During our agitation in December 2011, the authorities had promised to rectify the lacunae pointed out by the CCIM Visitation Committee, but no action was initiated and as a result of which our college was denied permission for student intake for the second consecutive year,” they said.
