Unless people have high quality education the country will not progress and for this very purpose the Anumolu Venkatappaiah Memorial Society was trying to recognise good administrators, teachers and students to give them attractive cash awards and financial assistance, former L&T president (operations) Anumolu Ramakrishna, has said.

The Vidya Vikas award this year was to Sister Biji Philip, principal of Nirmala High School, Patamata. The award name was being “branded” so that the recipients would be recognised.

The Vidya Jyothi Award would be given to “progressive subject teachers” and the Vidya Prakash awards would be given to meritorious students. Minister for Secondary Education K.Parthasarathi would be the chief guest of the award presentation programme.
