Amaravati villagers to fight till withdrawal of land acquisition notice

August 30, 2015 05:15 pm | Updated March 29, 2016 06:11 pm IST - UNDAVALLI (Guntur Dt.):

The Undavalli and other villagers are not happy with the State Government's announcement that it will withdraw the notices served under the Land Acquisition Act 2013. They vowed to fight until the Government withdrew its plans to acquire their lands be it under Land Acquisition Act or Land Pooling Scheme (LPS).

Addressing a meeting organized by the 10 Left parties here on Sunday, the villagers Usharani and Polemma from Undavalli said that they don’t have any faith in the Government promises. The Government miserably failed in keeping its assurances and promises made to the farmers who parted with their lands in the Capital region.

The identification of “pensioners” who parted with their lands was not scientific and comprehensive. Even those, who were lucky enough to find their names in the list, were not receiving any annuity or pension. The Government was making tall claims that it was paying pension to every farmer but it was far from reality.

The same trick is being played here (Undavalli) as the farmers haven’t agreed for the LPS, they said adding, and “We will not give our lands either under the LPS or land acquisition. If required we will approach the court.” CPI(M) State Secretary P. Madhu said that the Left parties would stand by the farmers in all their endeavuors. The Government has wicked plans to usurp the lands of poor under the garb of land pooling. We will make the land acquisition/LPS as a state-wide issue and turn into agitation,” he said.

CPI State Secretary K. Ramakrishna recalled that no party or individual who tried to grab the land of poor flourished. Be it Nimmagadda Prasad or Satyam Ramalingaraju, he said.
