Chief Minster Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday launched the Government’s crowd funding initiative to allow people across the globe to contribute to the building of the new capital, Amaravati. Branded My Brick – My Amaravati, the initiative allows people to donate money to the capital online by purchasing a symbolic e-brick for Rs.10 each.
Officials claimed there was an instant response from the online world to the Chief Minister’s initiative. One early donor, Mr. Srinivas Valluri from Peddapuram, bought 108 e-bricks even as the launch of the payment gateway was underway, they said. CRDA employees contributed one day’s salary, amounting to Rs 5.22 lakh, to buy 52200 e-bricks.
Likewise, Telugus residing in Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad and different areas across Andhra Pradesh purchased the e-bricks. By 10 pm Thursday, 2,219 donors had purchased 23,1868 bricks.
A senior official in the Chief Minister’s Office said there was no restriction on the number of bricks one can buy.
The names of all those who purchase the e-bricks would be registered in the electronic database. As a token of appreciation, authorities have decided to present to them certificates signed by the Chief Minister.
The payment gateway set up on the website www.amaravati.gov.in allows people to buy e-bricks using their debit and credit cards.
