All set for launch of freecrop insurance scheme

A slew of programmes to mark YSR birth anniversary tomorrow

The stage is set for the celebration of former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s birth anniversary on July 8 as the Farmers’ Day.

Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy will launch the free crop insurance scheme and give away best farmer awards. He will also distribution of financial aid of ₹1,500 per quintal to groundnut farmers who had to buy seed at a premium and give away soil health cards at Jammalamadugu.

The enhanced pension of ₹2,250 for the elderly and other eligible groups may also be launched on the day, according to party sources.

Minister for Agriculture K. Kanna Babu said that the birth anniversary of YSR would be celebrated in all the 175 Assembly constituencies in the State.

The YSR Congress Party in its election manifesto said once it comes to power it would pay the complete premium to insure the crop of all farmers under the Rythu Bharosa group of welfare schemes for farmers.

Awards to be given

Awards will be given to selected farmers for best practices and yields. The process for soil testing and distribution of soil health cards will be kicked off by the Chief Minister at the meeting.

According to YSRCP sources, instructions have been given to various district administrations to launch the enhanced oldage pension scheme. Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy in his swearing-in speech said that pension would be increased by ₹ 250 in July itself.

The Chief Minister will first go to Edupulapaya to pay tributes at the YSR ghat, make a stop a Pulivendula to lay the foundation stone for a Banana Research Station and later will attend the public meeting at Jammalamadugu.
