District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) Ch. Vijay Kumar explained to Jyothi and Peturu that it was illegal to adopt a baby without the proper procedure and advised them to apply for adoption.
Child Welfare Committee members Balashowry and Jaya Raju said that they will conduct a thorough inquiry into the incident.
The committee also asked the biological parents of the baby to submit their marriage proof, birth certificate and medical records of the baby.
“As there has been a financial transaction in the case, an inquiry is required. We will also interact with the elders of the biological parents and inquire into the circumstances that led to sale of baby. Till then, the baby will be kept in the government home,” Child Welfare Committee Chairman B. Nagesh Rao told The Hindu .
