Home Minister N. Chinarajappa on Friday said an enquiry would be ordered into the incident wherein a television channel journalist was allegedly assaulted by the police at Indrakeeladri. The Home Minister said action would be taken against the police personnel if found guilty.

Trouble broke out when the channel reporter was filming misuse of lifts meant for the physically challenged persons at Mallikarjuna Mahamandapam. The Circle Inspector on duty allegedly assaulted the journalist after an argument over the issue. The reporter sustained injuries on his neck in the incident. Meanwhile, media personnel covering the Dasara festivities at Indrakeeladri staged a protest seeking action against the CI

They also brought the matter to the notice of Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Nirmala Sitharaman and Social Welfare Minister Ravela Kishore Babu. The reporter is likely to lodge a formal complaint with the One Town police here on Saturday.
