Valentine’s Day witnessed lukewarm response in the city on Tuesday as not many celebrations were hosted by hoteliers and event organisers.
The celebrations remained a personal affair with many couples making a beeline for popular eateries and hangout spots.
A couple of hotels offered Valentine’s Day special dinners at discounted prices. Cuba Libre, a pub at the Trendset Mall, hosted the Valentine’s Neon Party with a promotional tag line ‘come single get mingle.’
While men needed to buy a ticket, the party was open for women.
DJ Akhil’s music enthralled the participants.
Many textile and electronics showrooms offered special Valentine’s Day discounts and bakeries, malls, gift shops and other establishments, decked up for the occasion, welcomed their patrons.
Seeking to exploit the situation, florists hiked the prices of flowers, but registered low sales.
Police mounted vigil at some of the city parks as a precaution to avoid any incidents of moral policing.
However, no untoward incidents took place.
