Rich tributes were paid to Telugu Desam Party founder and former chief minister N.T. Rama Rao on his 16th death anniversary on Wednesday.
The TDP leaders paid floral tributes to his statue at the party office here. They conducted a meeting in the party office and lauded the services rendered by NTR to Telugu speaking people in the State as well as others settled around the globe.
The former Chief Minister strived for the welfare of downtrodden and workers by founding the TDP.
Women were given due importance in all fields ever since the TDP came to power. Equal right in property to women was one of the initiatives of late N.T. Rama Rao, they recalled.
Urging the cadre to follow the ideals of former chief minister, they said that every party worker should emulate Rama Rao and render selfless service to the people. They also asked the workers to work hard to bring back to power under leadership of N. Chandrababu Naidu.
The poor feeding was also organised on the occasion at various places in the city. The TNTUC leaders distributed khakhi shirts to auto drivers on the occasion.
TDP senior leaders B. Raghavendra Rao, Urban general secretary S. Ravindra Varma, TNTUC president B. Subrahmanyam, general secretary M. Ramasway and others were present.
