The Krishnalanka police on Saturday handed over two children, Sd. Sham (6) and Sd. Hameed (4), to the Women Development and Child Welfare (WD&CW) officials, who in turn produced them before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC).
“The children were sent to their grandmother, who stays at Paritala village in Krishna district for a short stay, and instructions have been given to produce them before the committee again on Tuesday, along with their mother,” said CWC member Dr. T.S. Rao.
WD&CW district Project Director K. Krishna Kumari said the health condition of the two children was good and the grandmother Zaheera Bi was asked to take care of the children.
“As there is no security to the children with their father, Syed Hasman, we requested the family members not to leave the children with Hasman. The mother should produce the two kids before the officials and instructions were given to the District Child Protection Unit to track the case and inquire into the safety of the children,” Ms. Krishna Kumari said.
Hasman and his friend D. Narasimha Rao were arrested when they were allegedly trying to sell the two children in the Krishnalanka area on Friday.
The two accused were produced in the court and were remanded to judicial custody, said South Zone Assistant Commissioner of Police K. Srinivas.
