Transformation of the apron area of Prakasam Barrage into a foodie’s paradise is one of many good things that have happened as part of the ongoing Krishna Pushkarams in the city.

A row of food stalls offering both traditional cuisine and an array of lip-smacking spicy street foods are on offer here. To set a perfect festive tempo, the AP Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC), in association with the Department of Language and Culture, is also hosting cultural programmes to regale the throngs of pilgrims coming to the ghats for a holy dip.

Foodies couldn’t have asked for more.

An array of delicious flavours that entice people in the vicinity include Andhra delicacies like Putharekulu and ragi sangati while street food lovers have no reason to fret. Steaming hot bajjis, punugus and of course staple items like dosa and gaare are up for grab.

Cultural shows

Rapper and playback singer Baba Sehgal, who performed at the inaugural show on Monday, set the tone for the series of programmes lined up for the following days.

A battery of television artistes, including singers from reality shows, comedians and anchors have been roped in to keep the entertainment level high. On Wednesday, anchors Shilpa Chakravarthy and Ravi kept the audience entertained through the evening, while upcoming singers from TV show Swarabhishekam and India’s got talent and other artistes who performed comedy skits had the spectators asking for more.

The programmes begin at 6 p.m. and continue till 9.30 every day. Elsewhere in the city and its surrounding areas, cultural programmes are being hosted at Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium and Tummalapalli Kalakshetram besides Srisailam, Nagayalanka, Avanigadda, Vedadri, Pedda Kallopalli, Hamsaladeevi, Muktyala, and Pavitra Sangamam.

Pushkar song

The entire State is reverberating with Pushkaram festivities. The Pushkarams’ spirit has enveloped one and all. In the city, the festivities reflect in a pronounced way on the entire stretch of the Bandar Road where the impact of the river jamboree has unfolded in all its splendour. A Pushkar song penned by Telugu film lyricist and playback singer Jonnavithula Ramalingeswara Rao greets people urging them to keep Krishna waters clean by avoiding dumping of used water bottles or plastic bags in it.
