Sri Bala Tripura Sundari Devi, as goddess Kanakadurga, the presiding deity of Indrakeeladri in Vijayawada, is adorned on the first day of Dasara Navaratri festivities on Tuesday.

On Aswyuja suddha Panchami and Sashti this year, first day of Dasara festival, goddess Kanaka Durga is decorated as Sri Lalitha Tripura Sundari Devi.

The temple adorns presiding deity as Sri Lalitha Tripura Sundari Devi as Adi Sankara installed a Sri Chakra here, with which her furious form turned into peaceful and serene.

She is seated on Lord Siva, while goddess Sri Lakshmi Devi and Sarswati Devi are there on right and left with ‘vinjamarams’ ( fans) in their hands to serve her as described in Lalita Sahasranama stotram as ‘sachamara ramavaani savya dakshita sevita’.

She holds flowers, a noose, a goad and a sugarcane or bow; the noose represents attachment, the goad represents repulsion, the sugarcane bow represents the mind and the arrows are the five sense objects.

She is second form of ‘Tripura trayam’ and is the ultimate, primordial Shakti, the light of manifestation; and existing prior to Brahma, Visnhu, and Siva. She represents the panchabhuta, –vayu (air), jala (water), agni (fire), bhumi (earth) and akasa (space) -- five basic elements of the universe.

Lalitha, who is adhisthana devatha of Panchadasakshari and Sri Chakra, bestows Mahadaishwaryam (Fortune) to sadhaka of Sri Vidya.
