A Chennai based expert Madhavan inspected the cracks that developed in retaining wall built for widening of ghat road to top of Indrakeeladri here on Saturday.
Prof. Madhavan reportedly told the officials that the appearance of cracks was not a problem.
He also is stated to have assured that it would not pose any danger, and would not collapse.
The Kanakadurga temple public relations (PR) section disclosed the details of inspection and the expert's views.
The temple authorities, quoting Prof. Madhavan said, “It's sheer media scare. There is no impending danger.”
The appearance of several cracks in the masonry of a 40 metre high retaining wall built for widening the ghat road to the top of Indrakeeladri triggered off a panic in the city on Thursday.
There were apprehensions that the structure was not stable. And, the rains induced by Laila Cyclone have brought to the surface weaknesses in the wall and the wall is bound to collapse if there were two big showers.
There was even a demand for high-level inquiry in this regard.
