Municipal Commissioner G. Veerapandian on Saturday called upon the youth to take part in the Amaravati Marathon, which would kick-start from the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium by 6 a.m. on Sunday, in large numbers to promote the concept of good health in society. He along with city Mayor Koneru Sridhar inaugurated an expo organised by the committee members of the marathon at the DRRMC Indoor Stadium in which several youngsters gathered to receive their bip numbers and T-shirt. The organisers — member of Jio and Deep Trust — presented the route map to the participants, who would take part in the four categories.
Meanwhile, several marathoners were seen taking tips from the coaches and experienced athletes on the technical aspects of running. “We are taking all the precautions for the successful conduct of the marathon, which will be an annual feature of Andhra Pradesh,” said Mr Sridhar.
